Gripper update for JumboErgo
Schmalz renews surface grippers for vacuum tube lifters
Schmalz is launching a new generation of grippers for its vacuum tube lifters in the JumboErgo series. The modular FMP replaces the previous FM gripper.
An FM area gripper for the JumboErgo has been around for a long time. It has now been replaced by the FMP generation. This is no stranger: It has long proven its worth as an end-of-arm tool in vacuum automation. Now Schmalz is transferring the concept to manual handling.
The new FMP area gripper reliably grips workpieces weighing up to 140 kilograms, even when the suction surface is partially occupied, and is available in two lengths: 442 and 640 millimetres. It can be connected to the traverse both lengthwise and crosswise. The crossbeam connects the surface grippers to the operating handle and enables the grippers to be infinitely adjusted in this area. The FMP has a modular design. The base profile is made of aluminum and the easily replaceable sealing foam with integrated filter protects the suction pad from contamination.
Compared to the FM version, the effective area is increased by up to 32 square centimetres due to the new dimensions and an optimized hole pattern. However, the application remains the same: both the behavior and the area of application correspond to the FM system. The FMP is therefore suitable for the safe handling of panels with cut-outs, pallets or other workpieces with non-continuous surfaces. The new surface gripper also makes it easy to switch between full-surface and partially covered gripping, such as ergonomic machine loading and subsequent removal of the cut-outs. This is because the vacuum holds reliably, even if the suction cup surface is not completely covered.
