Kion expands site in the Czech Republic

The KION Group has added a third production hall to its site in Stříbro, near Pilsen in the Czech Republic. The 25,550 square meter hall, which was built in less than a year, will be used by the KION subsidiary Dematic. Conveyor belts, pocket sorters and storage and sorting equipment are manufactured at the Czech site.

"With the production expansion in Stříbro, one of our largest sites worldwide, we are responding to the growing trend towards omnichannel solutions and the ongoing boom in e-commerce," explains Gordon Riske, CEO of the KION Group. With its expertise, Dematic focuses on innovative, industry-focused warehouse logistics solutions such as autonomous storage and retrieval machines, driverless transport and multi-shuttle systems and, increasingly, robotics.

The KION Group officially opened its production site in Stříbro, Czech Republic, in 2016. The company operates a total of three sites in the Czech Republic. In addition to the plant in Stříbro, including the transport company based there, Linde Pohony (LiPo) in Český Krumlov manufactures electric and hydrostatic drive axles as well as steering axles for the KION Group brands.
