material flow: Where and with what do you start when it comes to the idea of modernization? What advice do you have for the logistics managers among our readers?
Markus Kammerhofer: I advise them to look at the big picture. In today's logistics systems, mechanics, control and IT systems are closely interlinked. It is therefore important to look at everything and plan a modernization concept in which everything necessary is implemented step by step. In most cases, we at TGW start with the modernization of the WMS/WCS/MFC areas as the basis for the next steps. In doing so, we first analyse the customer processes in order to be able to implement process optimizations at the same time. In this way, further added value can almost always be generated in addition to the modernization. We then take care of the conveyor and storage technology, including control and visualization. Depending on requirements, complete solutions are implemented or, if appropriate, only certain components are replaced. Because the issue of sustainability is becoming increasingly important, we implement modern solutions in the field of energy shutdown and recovery.
mfl: Which of your company's products or services is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of modernization?
Kammerhofer: Retrofit Consulting. With this approach, the TGW retrofit team works together with the customer to create a tailor-made solution based on our standardized modules. The aim is to minimize downtimes and ideally support the requirements of the customer and its customers. This is achieved with TGW retrofit solutions such as the energy-efficient KingDrive conveyor technology with SIO interface, Commander Lean stacker crane control systems or the TGW Warehouse Software. Our customers know: We think in terms of solutions - and focus on the overall system. This enables us to make our customers' systems fit for the future with state-of-the-art technologies.
