Transporting liquids safely
Schoeller Allibert supplies IBCs for coronavirus vaccine production
To transport the liquid raw material for the Covid-19 vaccine safely, hygienically and efficiently to the vaccine producers, companies such as CG Chemikalien GmbH & Co. KG rely on the Combo Life and Combo Excelsior Hybrid intermediate bulk containers from Schoeller Allibert.
Barely a year has passed between the first appearance of the Covid-19 virus and the approval of several vaccines. A remarkable achievement. Vaccine producers are now endeavoring to manufacture the vaccine in large quantities and deliver it all over the world. To ensure that the supply of raw materials does not come to a standstill or even stop, manufacturers such as CG Chemikalien GmbH & Co. KG must ensure safe, hygienic and efficient transportation of the valuable liquid. The company relies on the Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Combo Life and Combo Excelsior Hybrid from Schoeller Allibert for this purpose. The reusable containers meet all the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry and can be secured against tampering with Tamper Evidence security features. Equipped with barcodes and RFID tags, they enable fleet management.
The reusable IBC Combo Life complies with the latest hygiene standards of the European Union. It is equipped with a butterfly valve made of bisphenol A-free material. Its disposable liners with valve offer a capacity of 250 or 1,000 liters and prevent contamination. The double-walled structure of the Combo Life enables a stacking load of up to 7,500 kilograms and a dynamic load of up to 1,400 kilograms. When empty, the plastic container can be folded to around a third of its volume - this saves space and costs during storage and return transportation and reducesCO2 emissions. Only one person is needed to handle it.
With the Combo Excelsior Hybrid, users can transport pharmaceutical products, food or cosmetics safely and hygienically over long distances. This is ensured by a one-way inliner with a capacity of 1,000 liters, which can be easily inserted via a side flap. The hard-wearing and watertight lid of the IBC with self-locking closures has an optional tamper-evident feature. The sturdy side walls are flush with the lid and can withstand even high-speed filling.
The transition between the base and side wall is overlapping, so that neither water nor insects or other impurities can penetrate. Once at its destination, the Combo Excelsior can be unloaded quickly and precisely via a large bottom valve. Thanks to its sturdy construction, the Combo Excelsior can withstand dynamic loads of up to 3,100 kilograms and static loads of up to 7,900 kilograms and can therefore also be stacked when loaded. For space-saving return transportation, the user can fold it down to around a third of its volume when empty. It is fully compatible with conveyor belts and most automated handling systems.
