Rhenus Air & Ocean opens branch office at Liège Airport
Rhenus Air & Ocean moved from Herstal in Belgium to a new site about 20 kilometers away at Liège Airport on 11 May. The company wants to offer multimodal solutions at the new branch and expand Rhenus' global air freight network.
With over 900,000 tons of goods transported annually, Liège Airport (LGG) is Belgium's largest air cargo airport and the fastest growing cargo airport in Europe, according to its own figures. Major airlines and charter companies such as Qatar Airways, AirBridgeCargo and Ethiopian Airlines use Liège as a European hub and connect the location with numerous regions worldwide.
"In addition to the attractive flight schedules, Liège Airport has very good multimodal connections, which means that we will be able to offer our customers more air freight and rail freight products in addition to sea freight products in future. Several trains a week connect Liège with China along the Landbridge, including Yiwu and Zhengzhou," says Frank Roderkerk, CEO of Rhenus Air & Ocean Northern Europe.
Rhenus Air & Ocean Liège will offer its customers air, sea freight, rail and project transport services and the European distribution of goods, organize customs clearance and take over fiscal representation. Rhenus also offers storage services for goods in the Belgian Rhenus network at the ports of Genk, Antwerp, Brussels and Brucargo.
