First cargo jumbo in Rostock
A real cargo jumbo took off from Rostock-Laage Airport on October 4th. The Boeing 747-400F took off for Mumbai with 48 tons of cellulose.
The aircraft of Airline Silk Way from Azerbaijan was the first cargo aircraft of this size to fly to Rostock-Laage to date. The full charter was commissioned by DB-Schenker. Dörthe Hausmann, Managing Director of the airport operating company, emphasized the advantages of Rostock-Laage: "We are flexible and can also carry out special handling operations for which there is no time at large airports."
The client for the flight of the cargo jumbo was a regional company for which DB Schenker has been coordinating land transportation in Güstrow for several years. "In close coordination with the airport operator, our location has shown that we can also manage air freight in jumbo dimensions up here in Mecklemmburg-Vorpommern," says DB Schenker branch manager Gunnar Scholz. The Güstrow branch of Schenker Deutschland AG offers land, air and sea transportation as well as global supply chain management in the Rostock region.
