Planning transport robotics with 3D point cloud
EK Automation, a specialist in automated guided vehicles (AGVs), uses modern planning software to create virtual models that depict dynamic logistics processes in many variants. The aim is to optimize automated material flow and transport concepts.
3D point cloud for precise data
EK Automation offers millimetre-precise measurement with 3D laser scanners. The visible surroundings of a room are captured in individual scans, merged, cleaned of artifacts, processed in digital form as a 3D point cloud and assembled into an overall model.
First check, then decide
In order to arrive at an optimized transport solution with coordinated material flow processes, EK Automation employees use the planning tool Tecnomatix Plant Simulation and a modular system with which the process sequences can be mapped quickly and in detail. A simulation model is created in 2D or 3D on the basis of layout data, for example plans of the premises, locations and dimensions of systems, transport routes and machine behavior.
Linked with the data of the desired automated guided vehicles (AGVs), the process sequences can then be mapped with different routes, a different number of vehicles and various buffer sizes. In time-lapse and from a bird's eye view, problems can be identified at an early stage.
