Linde forklift fleet and coordinated intralogistics
Bauder equips warehouse with Beutlhauser
Well-functioning intralogistics is characterized by a reliable storage and picking system that not only ensures seamless process chains in internal processes, but also optimizes them where possible. What sounds simple in theory requires precise planning and foresight in practice. Paul Bauder, based in Stuttgart, relies on the expertise of Beutlhauser.
Bauder is a manufacturer and supplier of modern waterproofing, thermal insulation, greening and photovoltaic systems for roofs. A new plastics plant was built in Schwepnitz in 2021. "It quickly became clear to us that the new capacities created by the new building would also result in increased demand for our supplementary system products. These so-called SEPs are very important to us as a complete system provider," explains logistics manager Alexander Füssel.
Enough space for the SEPs
In order to be able to offer customers more systems from a single source in the future, the decision was made to set up a separate warehouse with around 3,700 square meters of space for this product area. All products to be picked are now located in one hall. "Our products come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and weights. We are therefore reliant on warehouse technology that meets these requirements. That's why we rely on a high degree of flexibility when it comes to the weights of the pallets or the dimensions of the packaging units," explains Füssel.
A concept for the pallet racking systems was developed in collaboration with the Beutlhauser team. "Particularly in the area of our system extension products, which take up around 1,100 storage locations, we opted for tried-and-tested technology that we have been using for several years. The racking could be converted and adapted to the new requirements without any major effort," reports Füssel.
Eleven new Linde appliances
The company also invested in a new fleet of forklift trucks. This includes six warehouse trucks from Linde. The main focus in the selection process was on speed and ergonomics. "With a pallet truck, all employees can adjust their working height individually and are also flexible when moving around the warehouse," continues Füssel. The fleet is completed by five Linde forklifts. For the first time, Bauder also opted for electric forklift trucks in order to be able to test this new technology comprehensively.
Bauder chose Beutlhauser as a partner primarily because of its customer service. "We are constantly developing. One thing is really important to us and that is time. When we used Linde equipment at other company sites, we kept hearing about the associated customer service. So it was also time for us to put this service to the test. What can we say: everything has worked great so far and we can say thank you," concludes Füssel.
