AutoStore solution for a French logistics giant

Dematic, has equipped the transport and logistics service provider Geodis with an AutoStore system. The logistics company, headquartered on the outskirts of Paris, had entrusted Dematic with the installation of a stand-alone system for its customer Nexter, which is now part of the Knds Group. Nexter is a manufacturer of military land systems based in Germany and France.

The Dematic solution was installed in a fully automated warehouse in Moulins, France. For this new automated facility, Dematic supplied an AutoStore system with 12,500 bins, four R5 robots and two conveyor ports, which was installed in the 22,000 square meter warehouse. Land defense systems developer and integrator Nexter plans to use the warehouse for maintenance and services and can store around 32,000 items on site.

"The Dematic solution is proving to be extremely robust and has fully met our expectations in terms of efficient use of our footprint. It supports the expansion of Nexter's activities within Knds, which are aimed at keeping the shore equipment in a ready-to-use condition," explains Thierry Schnepp, Director of Business Skills at Geodis.

Development of a three-tier value chain

Alain Bussod, Head of Dematic France, explains: "By integrating automated and robotized equipment, we are fully supporting Geodis' growth strategy. We can also demonstrate our expertise in providing customized solutions that meet the demands and challenges of modern logistics. At the same time, we are building a three-tier value chain based on a positive customer experience and mutual trust. This clearly opens the door to new collaboration." The new system is powered by Geodis' own warehouse management software Altesse.
