ORCA Cold Chain Solutions in Taguig/Manila is the first fully automated deep-freeze warehouse in the Philippines. The facility offers temperature-controlled storage and logistics as well as additional services for the food and agricultural industries to guarantee optimal storage and handling of sensitive fresh and frozen products.

ORCA Taguig has around 20,000 deep-freeze pallet spaces available on an area of around one hectare. Thanks to the automated solution, ORCA Taguig has the ability to move up to 4,800 pallets per day. The automated storage and retrieval machines in the Taguig facility have also been awarded "Pioneer Status" by the Board of Investments, an agency of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry.

SSI Schaefer's scope of services includes the fully automated high-bay warehouse in earthquake- and typhoon-proof silo design, a conveyor system, pick-to-tote picking workstations and the WAMAS logistics software.

ORCA currently operates three plants in the Metro Manila region: Alabang, Taguig and Caloocan. All three sites are located in the capital city of Manila, close to ports and industrial areas. At ORCA's Caloocan site, a fully automated frozen and fresh food warehouse is also currently being built in cooperation with SSI Schaefer. As a logistics service provider, ORCA supplies frozen and chilled food. Customers range from the Philippines' major fast food chains, exporters and importers to small food retailers.

By using the WAMAS logistics software from SSI Schaefer, ORCA tracks the goods within the warehouse in real time. To guarantee the freshness of the products, handling is carried out according to the FEFO principle (First Expiry, First Out). With WAMAS, ORCA keeps a close eye on stock levels and ensures that all goods are accounted for. This also reduces the risk of theft.
