Emission-free e-truck for Siemens plant in Leipzig
Since the beginning of June, an e-truck has been transporting goods within a radius of 100 kilometers for Siemens Smart Infrastructure's Leipzig plant for low-voltage switchgear. The Gruber Logistics truck covers an average of 250 kilometers a day.
The truck charged at the Siemens plant fills up with electricity generated 100 percent from renewable energies. Over the course of a year, around 60,000 kilometers of transport are covered emission-free.
Resource-saving transportation using e-trucks
Gruber Logistics and Siemens have a long-standing partnership. Siemens uses a Gruber Logistics LNG truck for the already established route between Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. A truck from the South Tyrolean company, which runs on bio-LNG, is used on the route between Gütersloh and the Hessian metropolis. Thanks to the new, fully electric vehicle at the Siemens plant in Leipzig and its surroundings, transport is now not only emission-reduced but also emission-free for the first time.
"The implementation of the electric truck for the Siemens plant in Leipzig sets a new standard for resource-conserving logistics. For the further development of sustainable transport solutions in the industry, it is essential to have a partner like Siemens at our side who shares our innovative strength and environmental responsibility," says Felix Kunath, Executive Director Business Unit Full Truck Load at Gruber Logistics.
Martin Fricke, Head of Logistics at the Siemens plant in Leipzig, adds: "We are delighted to have taken another step forward in our sustainability strategy and are proud to be able to offer solutions for e-mobility as a manufacturer of low-voltage switchgear."
