Jungheinrich wins two Red Dot Design Awards again in 2017

The Red Dot Design Award is presented annually by an international jury of independent designers, design professors and specialist journalists. The award is given to products that stand out from the more than 5,500 entries due to their design quality.

Jungheinrich introduced a new design concept for all products in 2016. In addition to the familiar Jungheinrich yellow, a new Jungheinrich grey was established in a uniform color scheme. All new models launched on the market since 2016 have been given a more streamlined design, while driving functions and type designations are uniformly highlighted in an accent green.

Michael Niebuhr, Head of Industrial Design at Jungheinrich AG, explains: "For us, design is more than just the appearance of our products. It is the face of our company, part of our success and the visual expression of quality and innovative strength. In 2016, we at Jungheinrich redefined the design concept of our trucks to create an unmistakable product design for the future. The striking new design is intended to consistently visualize the technical and ergonomic quality of our products. With its mixture of dynamism and robustness, it stands for a competent appearance that creates trust and arouses desire. The fact that we have received two Red Dot Design Awards two years in a row is an impressive confirmation of our work."

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Award, pays tribute to the winners: "The Red Dot winners are pursuing the right design strategy. The award from the critical Red Dot jury documents their high design quality and points the way for their successful design policy."

In 2016, Jungheinrich won a Red Dot Design Award with the ECE 225 horizontal order picker. The Jungheinrich jetPILOT multifunction steering wheel won the "Best of the Best" award in the truck accessories category.

The EKX 516

With its standard mast, the EKX 516 narrow-aisle truck can lift loads of up to 1.6 tons to a maximum lifting height of 17.5 meters. With its new engine technology, control technology and lightweight construction, the EKX from Jungheinrich is one of the most modern trucks in its class in the intralogistics sector.

At the heart of the EKX 516 is a completely new motor technology developed by Jungheinrich. The synchronous reluctance motor, which is being used for the first time in this truck, combines the high performance and energy efficiency of synchronous motors with the cost and maintenance benefits of three-phase asynchronous motors. This is another reason why the EKX 516 scores with the lowest energy consumption in its class.

The Jungheinrich vibration damping technology used in the EKX 516 is a patented world first on the market for high-rack stackers. It guarantees better driving characteristics even on uneven floors, increases handling performance and ensures greater safety. The operating concept of the EKX 516 makes working conditions considerably easier for the driver.

The new EKX 516 contains various modules for process integration. These include RFID technology, redundant height and distance measurement and the Jungheinrich logistics interface. By using the optionally available Jungheinrich warehouse navigation system "WarehouseNAVIGATION" with semi-automatic destination approach, further performance increases of up to 25 percent can be achieved in practice.

The EREThe ERE 120/125/225 is the latest generation of ride-on pallet trucks. Its modular system offers over 4000 different configuration options, which can be varied depending on the handling, transport or application requirements of the truck. This is Jungheinrich's response to the increasingly versatile and flexible requirements of its customers. Despite the high degree of variance, the ergonomic man-machine interfaces as well as the access and storage systems are always in the same place and allow a 100 per cent recognition value.

The 14 km/h drivePLUS version makes the ERE the fastest truck on the market. Jungheinrich also promises an additional increase in handling performance of up to 15 percent through the use of assistance systems. The newly introduced fixed platform makes the ERE the shortest and most compact ride-on truck currently on the market, proving its strengths particularly in confined storage areas.

Combining compact maneuverability with the comfort of a ride-on vehicle, the ERE is the ideal vehicle for high-performance use in the loading and unloading of trucks as well as for the long-distance transport of heavy loads and the order picking of a wide variety of goods.
