Editorial Material flow 11-12/16
Sometimes it's a question of faith
Almost three weeks ago, the editorial team discussed pallet pooling in depth with four managing directors and board members from the industry. The round table discussion, documented in this issue, showed that "the truth" cannot be found in a spreadsheet in column three in this industry either.

Because: When is a pallet broken or in top condition? Are pallets made of wood or plastic more sustainable? Our guests, my colleagues and I quickly ended up with questions of faith. This is not the only area where logistics service providers and suppliers in the pallet segment still have plenty of scope for creative ideas in the production, rental and management of pallets. But also in almost all other segments. It is still important to be wary of "the" answer and "the" solution. Read more about this exciting round from page 44 onwards.
The verdict on the question of whether mergeritis is beneficial in the German and international intralogistics sector is similarly subjective. Our columnist Intra first hinted at this in issue 10/16 ("Big is not always so beautiful") and just as we were writing these lines, a press release from a large corporation fluttered into our inbox.
There is talk of a "new era" that will make the company "the world's leading provider of a unique and ultra-modern portfolio". Obviously, they didn't have it any smaller than that... Truth or just a rumor, even whistling in the woods? Here, too, we are faced with a question of faith.
By contrast, your feedback on our new layout with a new logo and new claim, which we introduced with issue 8-9/16, was very clear: I would like to thank you for the great response to your new intralogistics magazine.
Kind regards from Haar,
