Dematic breaks new ground in presentation with Imagination Center

Many customers find it difficult to imagine complex intralogistics solutions down to the last detail. Dematic's recently opened Imagination Center aims to change this: On an area of around 2,600 square meters, Dematic not only traces the history of automation, but above all gets to the bottom of customer wishes and needs interactively. Tailor-made intralogistics solutions are created using a configurator and can first be flown through virtually. With this overview, visitors can then view various solutions in reality on a presentation area. The new product presentation makes Dematic a pioneer in this field in Germany. At the opening yesterday, exclusive Dematic customers and representatives from politics and business were given a first glimpse of the Imagination Center.

"In order to meet the needs of our customers, we need to understand them precisely. In the new Imagination Center, consultants and customers get to know each other in a playful way and discover the Dematic world together," says Ulf Henriksson, CEO of Dematic. Starting with abstract ideas, the discussion partners work together to develop a concrete end product during the tour. "We show here more clearly than ever before how we use our intralogistics solutions to create complete warehouses that fit specific customer realities," says Henriksson. Rather than trawling through catalogs together, Dematic relies on interaction in the Imagination Center: the customer is directly involved in the development of their desired intralogistics system and can watch an animated film at the end that shows their individual warehouse. This new dimension of product and service presentation is unique in Germany.

There are four areas in the Imagination Center: First, the customer enters the "History Tunnel". This general part of the tour shows the phases of the Industrial Revolution and combines them with information about Dematic's values, sectors and customers. This gives the visitor an overview of developments in intralogistics. From the second section onwards, the tour is tailored to the customer. First of all, their needs are addressed at the "theme islands". Playfully conveyed content, which varies depending on the customer's focus, provides impetus for discussions. The discussions are then deepened in front of the "solution wall". At this point, the logistics solutions provider presents the automation technologies, software and services that meet the customer's identified requirements and finally assembles the selected elements into a complete warehouse. An individually created film with a fly-through of the developed warehouse visualizes the result of the tour on a screen.

The tour through the Imagination Center ends in front of a large window through which the visitor looks out onto part of Dematic's "Tech Center". There, on a further 2,000 square meters, they can see some of the technologies previously experienced virtually live once again, including the AMCAP palletizing system. "In our Imagination Center, the customer experiences the world of intralogistics in an interactive way, not just in two but also in three dimensions," says Henriksson. All stations in the Imagination Center are interactive. Thanks to the Kinect control system, customers can intervene in the warehouse configuration process themselves, for example.
