How time flies: In May 2016, Dr. Andreas Gruchow (l.), Christoph Beumer (m.) and Sascha Schmel (r.) announced that CeMAT would in future be organized in conjunction with Hannover Messe. In November 2016, Gruchow AG moved internally to the "Woodworking/Woodprocessing and Floorcoverings" department; Dr. Jochen Köckler became the new CeMAT CEO. Beumer is no longer Chairman of the CeMAT Executive Committee, but Sascha Schmel is still Managing Director of the VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Association.

Brigitte Mahnken, spokesperson for CeMAT/Hannover Messe, confirmed the resignation with the following statement:

"After eight years, Dr. Beumer stepped down as Chairman of the CeMAT Executive Committee on December 31, 2016. We would like to thank Dr. Beumer for his outstanding commitment and greatly appreciate the fact that he has held this time-consuming position for so long. We will be reorganizing the CeMAT committees by early summer, with Dr. Köckler, Chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Messe AG, taking over as Chairman on an interim basis."

For many years, Christoph Beumer was regarded by the major intralogistics companies as one of the most active advocates of the trade fair in Hanover. The Beumer Group did not wish to comment on the resignation when asked by Materialfluss.
