Call for entries for the BME Innovation Award 2016

BME Innovation Award 2016

In 2016, the German Association of Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME) will once again honor competent solutions for procurement and logistics with the "BME Innovation Award". The award recognizes innovative services and concepts from companies that permanently increase the efficiency of purchasing, supply chain management and logistics and thus demonstrably improve the company's results.

Conditions of participation

Purchasing and logistics departments from industry, trade and the service sector can apply for the BME Innovation Award 2016. The prerequisite is that the submitted concept has been implemented in practice and demonstrably contributes to the company's success. The paper (in German or English) should not exceed 20 pages. The independent expert jury of the BME Innovation Award selects the best concepts and invites the nominated companies to a presentation in Frankfurt in September 2016. The winner will emerge from this round. The official announcement and presentation of the BME Innovation Award 2016 will take place at the 51st BME Symposium on Purchasing and Logistics (November 9-11, 2016) in Berlin.

Closing date: June 30, 2016

Acting award winner 2015: Airbus Group

The company received the BME award for the repositioning of its Group Purchasing department. In the course of further integration within the Airbus Group, an innovative purchasing concept was developed and implemented. It ensures the systematic use of synergies between the divisions and at the same time the necessary flexibility and proximity to internal and external business partners. The Airbus Group purchasing strategy was developed over a twelve-month process with the involvement of the relevant interest groups; it forms the basis for the purchasing strategies of the individual divisions. This ensures that coordinated, uniform approaches are applied in purchasing across the divisions. The project pursued various objectives such as cross-group, harmonized and highly efficient processes, the development of purchasing synergies, optimal support for internal business partners and the mobility of purchasing staff between the divisions. The Airbus Group's purchasing strategy touches on areas such as employees, organization and processes, compliance, the role of purchasing in the company, supplier portfolio and performance improvement as well as cost reduction.
