BLG and the largest Dutch cold store operator seal partnership
BLG Logistics Group sells 51 percent of its shares in Bremerhaven-based Coldstore to the Dutch company Kloosterboer. In future, the joint venture will operate under the name Kloosterboer BLG Coldstore GmbH. The aim of the cooperation is to achieve a joint positioning in the field of temperature-controlled logistics in northern Germany.

BLG Coldstore Logistics GmbH was founded in 1985 and operates the largest commercial cold store in Bremerhaven with a storage capacity of around 29,000 pallet spaces in the free port. The core business includes the storage of frozen foodstuffs from overseas non-EU countries. Kloosterboer is the largest cold store operator in the Netherlands and one of the largest providers of temperature-controlled logistics in Europe. The Dutch company, based in Ijmuiden, is also active in France, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Canada and the USA.
"With Kloosterboer, we now have a strong, international partner at our side, with whom we will further expand the cold storage sector and extend our distinctive network in the international fish and seafood industry," says Lüder Korff, who was already responsible for BLG Coldstore Logistics GmbH and will become Managing Director of Kloosterboer BLG Coldstore GmbH.
The strategic partnership is a win-win situation for both sides: Kloosterboer is pursuing an international growth strategy and is entering the German market with the acquisition of 51 percent of the shares in BLG Coldstore. The focus was clearly on Bremerhaven as the preferred location for deliveries of frozen foods such as raw fish products from overseas countries like Alaska. Kloosterboer Managing Director Hans Kroes sees many advantages in the collaboration: "In addition to expanding our service portfolio, we want to create and utilize synergies in all areas. This will enable us to offer our customers greater flexibility, competitive advantages and savings within the supply chain."
The transaction is still subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
