Storage- and racking systems

Two new major orders for Swisslog

A strong start to 2016 for Swisslog. In addition to an order from an Asian beverage group, the company has won another major order from the German natural medicines and natural cosmetics manufacturer WALA. The order value of both projects amounts to a total volume of around 20 million euros and was booked in the first quarter of 2016. The order for WALA Heilmittel GmbH, which specializes in natural medicines and natural cosmetics, includes the installation of fully automated storage systems at the new logistics site in Zell unter Aichelberg in Swabia, Germany. The project is scheduled to start this year and operations are due to commence at the end of 2017. The new warehouse includes both a high-bay warehouse for around 12,000 pallets and a small parts warehouse for around 13,000 containers and trays. Another important component of the major order is a pick-by-light system with automatic replenishment. "We are proud that we were able to win these orders from our customers," says Dr. Christian Baur, Chief Operating Officer of the Swisslog Group and CEO of the Warehouse & Distribution Solutions (WDS) division. "This allows us to demonstrate not only our expertise in warehouse automation, but also our broad-based industry experience."
