New frozen food warehouse for apetito frozen meals
Kardex Mlog is expanding apetito's frozen food storage capacities at its main site in Rheine. With a total investment of around 16 million euros - the second highest in the company's history - a further 17,000 pallet spaces are being created for additional frozen meals. The expansion will increase capacity to 20 million frozen meals, which can be kept in stock at all times. As general contractor, Kardex Mlog is building a four-aisle high-bay warehouse with four storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) from its own production with double-deep load handling and two load handling devices per SRM. Identical stacker cranes have already proven themselves in projects with demanding environments and at temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. The SRMs are characterized by high energy efficiency and modern energy recovery systems. The scope of delivery also includes fully automatic mixed pallet formation and the conveyor connection to the logistics center. The ground-breaking ceremony took place in March of this year, with completion scheduled for June 2017.
