Digital Logistics Award attracts inventors with high prize money

Dortmund, 02.08.2017 - Start-ins, start-ups and innovative thinkers from the logistics sector have the opportunity to present their business idea of the future to a broad audience at the first Digital Logistics Award and receive prize money and benefits in kind with a total value of more than 25,000 euros.
The award was presented by the new Digital.Hub Logistics. The Digital.Hub Logistics is supported by the Fraunhofer Institutes for Logistics and Material Flow IML and for Software and Systems Engineering ISST, EffizienzCluster Management GmbH and Duisburger Hafen AG. It is based on an initiative of the digital association Bitkom and is part of the Digital Hub Initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). It strengthens the established and dynamic ecosystem of digital logistics in the Ruhr region and supplements it with the areas of smart talents, capital and start-ups. The Digital.Hub Logistics closes the gap in the innovation chain between pre-competitive research and the transfer of product ideas to the market.
"With this award, we want to recognize, appreciate and promote creative business solutions for the digital working world in logistics," says Thorsten Hülsmann, Managing Director of EffizienzCluster Management GmbH (ECM). "We are once again calling on companies to help shape the digital transformation and look forward to receiving numerous applications.
Pitch in front of an expert audience at the Future Logistics Congress
The Digital Logistics Award is aimed at three groups: start-ups, i.e. innovation teams within a logistics and production company that develop a digital service or a digital product beyond the existing portfolio, start-ups that can participate up to three years after their foundation, and inventors who should have a mature product or business idea in the field of logistics.
"Whether you present your idea to us in paper form, as a podcast, photo story or video is up to you," explains Maria Beck from ECM/vom Digital.Hub Logistics. "But it should be short! In the tradition of elevator pitches, we want to know exactly what makes your idea from and for logistics so special."
All submissions will be reviewed by a jury of experts from business, science and applied research. This jury will select eight applicants who will be able to present their project to a specialist audience in a 5-minute pitch at the Zukunftskongress Logistik 2017 on September 12 in Dortmund. The audience will be invited to select three winning teams immediately afterwards. The winners will be announced and awarded prizes at the evening event of the Future Congress.
Interested participants should send their application with details of the company, a brief team introduction and a contact person by August 31 (closing date 11.59 p.m.) by e-mail to [email protected]. red/cd
