Compact storage

The contract logistics company ID Logistics has put a new e-commerce logistics center into operation in the Limes industrial park, covering an area of 40,000 square meters. The company opted for a four-storey shelving system from META-Regalbau for the required pick tower, an important component in the logistics chain.

The company with French roots, which employs over 20,000 people worldwide, invested several million euros in the new e-commerce logistics center in the Limes inter-municipal industrial park - directly on the A45 freeway. ID Logistics relied on an e-commerce solution from META-Regalbau for the flexible storage of goods in a comprehensive pick tower. According to the company, various well-known providers from the e-commerce sector have already opted for META's warehouse technology in recent years.

External expertise as a resource
"The experience of our suppliers and partners also plays an important role in such a comprehensive project," explains Robin Otto, Commercial Vice President of ID Logistics. "We benefit from the additional external expertise, especially during planning, project planning and further implementation."

Shelves for various goods
In the new four-storey pick tower, which has a floor area of around 8,300 square meters, goods are stored and picked manually by the so-called pickers. Almost 50,000 shelves have been installed in this impressive facility. Approximately 74,000 shelf dividers ensure optimum and flexible separation of goods, resulting in over 100,000 storage locations on completion.

The choice of XXL shelves ensures a high degree of storage flexibility and even large items can be stored in the new racking system. In addition to the racking system based on the META Clip system, the focus of META's planning and project planning in the pick tower was on the connection of several integrated goods elevators, the installation of six pallet transfer stations based on swing gates and the steel construction adapted to the hall structure, including the staircases.
