Novaltia builds new distribution center with Knapp
The Spanish pharmaceutical wholesaler Novaltia is once again relying on a complete solution from Knapp: In the new distribution center at its headquarters in Zaragoza, logistics processes are to be streamlined and sequences made more precise by means of an intelligent all-in-one shuttle solution for automated order fulfillment, with the aim of flexible and reliable order compilation.
Novaltia operates five distribution centers and supplies over 1,000 pharmacies up to five times a day. The company has a 24-year partnership with Knapp. "Our successful collaboration is characterized by mutual trust. Knapp not only knows how to adapt to our general needs, but also to the versatility and complexity of our processes," emphasizes Fernando Castillo, CEO Novaltia. Novaltia already relies on Knapp solutions at two locations. Together, existing distribution centers are constantly being expanded and optimized.
Shuttle solution with around 49,000 parking spaces
Novaltia opted for an all-in-one shuttle solution from Knapp. The 5-aisle OSR Shuttle Evo system with around 49,000 storage locations will supply four ergonomic Pick-it-Easy Evo workstations. In addition, two OSR Shuttle Sorters will be set up specifically for shipping.
The entire warehouse is designed for a throughput of 1,200 order totes per hour and offers capacity for more than 40,000 SKUs.

Software for optimized performance
In addition to the innovative hardware, modern warehouse logistics software is also used with KiSoft. An end-to-end KiSoft software solution ensures efficient and error-free processes in the highly automated warehouse, allowing Novaltia to control, monitor, coordinate and optimize all goods flows in real time.
