SLAM navigation in real time
'Freestyle Localize', 'Trailer Find' and 'Scanner Switch' are three new features of Sigmatek's real-time location software forcontour-based navigation 'SlamLoc'.
With 'Freestyle Localize', the system creates a localization without a previously created map by scanning and analysing the surroundings in real time. It therefore allows flexible navigation within range of the scanner.
With the 'Trailer Find' function, an AGV/AMR can move to the open gate in a warehouse and locate and measure the truck trailer there - even if it is typically located outside the predefined map. In order to guarantee optimum loading or unloading, Freestyle Localize enables the vehicle to locate itself precisely in the trailer and act accordingly.
The 'Scanner Switch' enables SlamLoc to switch to another scanner during operation. If a scanner is covered by a load, for example, it is possible to switch to another (additionally mounted) scanner - without the vehicle having to stop or come to a standstill. This saves braking and acceleration, which in turn ensures a longer battery life.
