Tool-free opening

Marvin Meyke,

New generation of energy chains

igus is presenting a new generation of energy chains at the Hannover Messe. The E4Q has a new, more efficient opening concept. In addition, the "pebble-like" design of the e-chain reduces the weight.

With the E4Q, locking tabs ensure that the series can be opened and closed in seconds and without tools. The company is presenting the first prototype of the new generation at the Hannover Messe. With the EQ4, the opening bars can be opened and closed completely without tools. If the opening bar is unlocked on both sides, it can be removed upwards without great effort. This means that the chain can also be opened and closed easily in a guide trough, which speeds up the filling of the chain by up to 40 percent, according to the company. Long, unsupported lengths and long travel distances with a high filling weight are extreme loads for energy chains. The new EQ4 is therefore based on the robust E4.1 energy chain standard from igus. Despite material cut-outs, the new development has high strength and stability, comparable to the E4.1 series. The new design also increases the pull-out forces compared to other e-chains.
