Editorial materialfluss 8-9/2018

Martin Schrüfer,

Looking ahead

Sometimes things happen quickly: no sooner had issue 5/18 of materialfluss been published and with it our offer to Deutsche Messe AG to discuss the realignment of the former world's leading trade fair for intralogistics, also known as CeMAT, than the editorial phone rang: "We accept the invitation, let's talk". You can read what came out of it from page 8: I will remember the materialfluss ROUND TABLE in Hanover for a long time as an open and imaginative discussion. As always, you can find videos of the discussion on our YouTube channel.

This issue focuses on the topic of industrial trucks - for once, without the loud and popular claims of many manufacturers that they are now also involved in warehousing and order picking technology. Instead, we report on exciting and innovative forklift truck applications. With this issue, we have changed the subheading on the title page of materialfluss: The trade magazine for intralogistics becomes the trade medium for intralogistics - clearly expressing materialfluss's claim to be the platform for intralogistics in print, online and with events. From this issue onwards, you will also find a new section that will appear regularly: In "2 Perspectives" (page 6), we will be gathering perspectives from other sectors on the big issues that are not only of concern to intralogistics experts. My colleague Andrea Gillhuber, Editor-in-Chief of SCOPE, the industry magazine for production and technology, and myself will be kicking things off. Our topic: "Blockchain - And now suddenly everything is completely different?"
