Editorial materialfluss 8-9/2019

Martin Schrüfer,

Classics in transition

Summer is over and with it our traditional time-out: with the publication of the double issue 8-9/2019, we are ushering in the intralogistics fall: After Fachpack in Nuremberg, the German Logistics Congress in Berlin will become the focus of the industry. The upcoming issue of materialfluss will be published in advance, as will our "classic", the materialfluss PORTRAIT EINER BRANCHE 2019/ 2020.

The book will be published on October 9, as always in a square format and, as always, a very readable directory of suppliers from the world of intralogistics. For the first time, we have also included trend reports from segments such as warehouse and order picking technology, AGVs and conveyor technology in the 2019 edition, thus also upgrading the "classic" editorially. A well-rounded issue, in my opinion, just like the upcoming birthday of the intralogistics trade journal: materialfluss is turning 50.

We are dedicating many pages of this issue to the anniversary and looking back on five decades of intralogistics - or, as it was still called back then, material flow. I promise you: many a gem from reporting in the seventies will be rediscovered! Of course, your congratulations or good advice, or both, should not be missing from the anniversary issue. Go ahead, get to work! I look forward to receiving your e-mails.

Last but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce a new member of the materialfluss team that one or two readers are sure to know: Petra Born, long-time editor-in-chief of sister magazine handling, has joined materialfluss. From this issue onwards, she will be supporting the editorial team with wise advice and a keen eye for text quality as a permanent freelancer. Welcome, Petra!
