On the summit
Passionate hikers know the feeling: when you finally reach the summit, you take a break and let your gaze wander over the vast landscape. And then it's downhill. Inevitably! Whether this image can also be applied to the upcoming intralogistics trade fair, LogiMAT, is up to you to decide.
I think so, because more trade fairs (in Stuttgart) will hardly be possible, more exhibitors will improve the diversity of the industry, but not the orientation, and there will hardly be anything to add in terms of content. Our columnist Intra has written a letter to new trade fair boss Michael Ruchty ("Dear Michael Ruchty", see page 99) and suggested a change of venue. This would have the further advantage that intralogistics, a link for all industries and trade, could finally be presented in the context of neighboring sectors, i.e. together with them. Sounds like a Hannover Messe with CeMAT in (for a change) well done? Certainly, which is why 2020, when CeMAT and HMI are scheduled again, will be a very groundbreaking trade fair year. Until then, LogiMAT alone will be playing the music: 1,600 exhibitors await trade fair visitors and journalists - anyone who doesn't cheer here has never seen the inside of a warehouse.
In this respect, I wish you a good time at the trade fair, freely adapted from the old song by Geier Sturzflug: "Visit Stuttgart while it's still standing". In preparation, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the idea of taking public transport to the trade fair (which could save you the expected traffic jams) and, of course, reading this edition of the trade fair. Particularly comprehensive, it is full of ideas on what to see in Swabia.
Best wishes from Landsberg and Haar,
Yours
