Transco wants to grow with frozen and fresh food logistics

Transco is investing in frozen and fresh food logistics and is planning to open a temperature-controlled high-bay warehouse with 5,000 pallet spaces in the Lake Constance region. The new warehouse will have several temperature zones with a maximum temperature of minus 22 degrees Celsius. With this investment, the company is multiplying its storage and handling capacities in frozen and fresh food logistics.

As a forwarding and logistics company in the Lake Constance region, Transco also has experience in the transportation of fruit and vegetables. In addition, the company has been active in the temperature-controlled truck transportation of medicines and pharmaceutical raw materials for almost three decades with its Transco Pharm business unit, covering not only the whole of Europe, but also the Asian part of Russia and the Central Asian states. Transco has also been active in deep-freeze logistics since 2017 and operates a deep-freeze warehouse at the Münsingen site in the Swabian Jura.

Investment in the midst of the corona crisis

"The commissioning of the deep-freeze warehouse in Münsingen was a successful start and provided further impetus for the strategy of expanding capacity in the Lake Constance region," explains Transco CEO Christian Bücheler. "Frozen food logistics is an additional part of our expansion strategy, which we are sticking to even in these generally difficult economic times. With our warehouse, we are creating attractive offers for the regional food industry, while at the same time making our logistics company even more resilient through diversification."

At the new location for frozen and fresh food logistics, Transco will offer value-added contract logistics services in addition to storage. The warehouse will have a modular design so that it can be expanded quickly if demand increases. If there is sufficient demand, it is possible to expand the warehouse location to include a handling terminal for frozen and fresh products. Bücheler: "Our location in the border triangle of Germany, Austria and Switzerland and our transport links are ideal conditions for establishing a goods hub for chilled food here."
