Contract logistics company Loxxess improves eco-balance with combined heat and power plant

Aurach, 13.07.2018 - The contract logistics company Loxxess commissioned a combined heat and power plant at its Aurach site in December last year. The plant generates around a third of the electricity required and around half of the heat needed to heat the hall. The plant has a modular design and is used to generate electrical energy and heat.
The system works on the principle of combined heat and power generation: the system, which runs on liquid gas, supplies electricity and mechanical energy at the same time. The mechanical energy is converted into electricity and thus produces usable heat for heating purposes. This avoids around 48 tonsof CO2 emissions per year. In addition to the combined heat and power plant, a photovoltaic system and intelligent light sensors are also used. These and other initiatives led to the environmental certification of the site in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 14001 standard. mm
