More leeway for planners and crane operators

Expansion of the Demag KBK crane construction kit

Demag is expanding the application and variation possibilities of the KBK crane construction kit with several new features. The focus is on components with higher load capacities, improved space utilization and reduced installation costs.

The Demag KBK modular light crane system is a construction kit for creating customized solutions for lifting, moving and handling components. The planner can adapt the system to work sequences, the goods to be transported and almost any conceivable structural conditions. Demag KBK can be used to design individual workstations as well as overall intralogistics concepts for complete production and assembly lines.

Single-girder cranes with up to 2,000 kg

The latest innovations in the range include a new, stronger suspension and improved trolleys. This means that KBK single-girder cranes with a load capacity of up to 2,000 kg can be used in future. Previously, the requirements in this load range could only be met with double-girder cranes. The advantage of the single-girder design is that even lighter and more compact cranes can be used. Users of the new single-girder crane in the KBK system save twice as much space, as a single double trolley is now sufficient instead of the two double trolleys previously required, which are connected via a crossbeam. This means that the approach dimensions of the cranes are significantly smaller, resulting in improved space utilization.

Reduced approach dimensions can now also be implemented for single-girder cranes in the KBK Aluline series. This is because the KBK A22 single-girder crane with a load capacity of 2,000 kg is offered in this system. As several cranes can travel on the same crane runway in the KBK light crane system, double crane trolleys are still used here to avoid collisions. A more compact version can be realized with the trolley trolley: The new single trolley allows smaller approach dimensions and therefore better space utilization.

Larger suspension distances - more flexibility

Another new addition to the KBK Aluline range is a suspension with a higher load capacity (up to 2,400 kg) for the largest crane runway profile A22. It extends the possibilities for planning with KBK Aluline in two directions: The system can now also be used with cranes with a load capacity of up to two tons, which are easier to implement in conjunction with the new trolley. Larger suspension distances are also possible for the crane runway when several cranes are traveling on the runway: Here is a concrete example with four 500 kg cranes on one crane runway: previously, the maximum distance between two suspensions was 1,841 mm. Thanks to the new suspension system, this distance can now be extended to up to 3,573 mm. This gives planners more flexibility right from the project phase and significantly reduces the installation effort and the associated assembly costs.

Demag had previously expanded the options of its online configurator. This enables the selection of double-girder cranes with a raised bridge in combination with an internal conductor line for electric crane travel. This extension of the modular system is aimed at KBK applications with limited headroom and a longer hook path. Here too, the focus is on optimum utilization of the available space. This design with a raised crane bridge with maximum usable hook path is also available for the KBK Aluline system.

Easily mounted travel path limiters

And another new feature underlines the basic modular principle of Demag KBK. Thanks to a travel path limiter that can be used at any point, installation operators can install a limitation in the travel axes at any time and in just a few simple steps. This allows the travel paths of cranes and crabs to be restricted if necessary - even temporarily - and safety in crane operation to be increased in line with requirements. Alfons Gruttmann, Director of Demag Sales Germany: "Our customers appreciate the Demag KBK crane construction kit for the realization of their individual and ergonomic workplace cranes. They particularly appreciate the high flexibility and modularity of the comprehensive modular system for all industries. Demag KBK is used for lifting and transport applications for loads from 80 kg up to 3.2 tons. With the KBK modular system, we always offer our customers optimum and sustainable solutions that grow with the customer's production and can be adapted at any time."
