KUKA has been presenting the Innovation Award since 2014, focusing on different technologies each time. Next year, everything will revolve around the topic of artificial intelligence (AI). "AI is becoming increasingly important for companies and industry. Especially in combination with robotics, it opens up completely new possibilities and applications. We are looking forward to exciting concepts and new perspectives," says Dr. Rainer Bischoff, Vice President Corporate Research at KUKA.

Research teams from all over the world can submit their ideas for the "Artificial Intelligence Challenge" until June 21, 2020. An international jury of experts will evaluate the concepts and select five finalists who will implement their ideas using KUKA hardware. In return, the final teams will receive a KUKA robot free of charge for at least six months, as well as training and coaching throughout the competition.

The final of the Innovation Awards traditionally takes place at a major trade fair, according to the press release. The teams present their applications to a large specialist audience from industry and research as well as media representatives and investors. The winner also receives prize money of 20,000 euros.
