Automated pallet logistics
Dragsbæk halves pallet area
By using automated pallet solutions from Palomat, Dragsbæk has halved the space required for pallets, optimized processes and sustainably improved working conditions.
At Danish manufacturer Dragsbæk, manual pallet handling used to take up a lot of space, require additional work and put physical strain on employees. Pallets had to be moved individually, stacked and frequently restacked, which cost time and disrupted the production flow.
Palomat is now an integral part of production at Dragsbæk. Two Palomat units are located centrally in production and supply three production lines with pallets, which are palletized by robots and then transported onwards by automated guided vehicles.
0 % manual pallet handling, 50 % more floor space
When an employee needs a pallet, the Palomat automatically unstacks a pallet on the floor, which is then picked up with a pallet truck. With Palomat, complete stacks of pallets can be brought directly into production, halving the floor space required for pallets. "Manual pallet handling has been 100% eliminated," says Dan Dan Thorup, Production and Operations Manager at Dragsbæk. "Staff no longer have to lift or move pallets manually. This has made a huge difference in everyday life. The time saved goes directly into a better focus on the products and other tasks in production."
In addition to ergonomic benefits, the company also benefits from less noise, less cleaning and an overall quieter working environment. "We invested in our Palomat solutions because of the ergonomics and the working environment, but we have also noticed that the noise level has dropped and there is significantly less dirt and wood splinters on the floor. That's a big advantage - especially in food production," explains Dan.
The initial skepticism towards the new technology quickly gave way to acceptance in everyday life. "Investing in a better working environment always pays off in the long term. Employees with good working conditions are happier - and everyone benefits from that."
