Return and cargo aircraft: Jettainer provides loading equipment
Global air traffic in times of corona poses major challenges for those involved. Loading equipment is needed for the suitcases of returnees, which the countries bring home in repatriation operations, as well as for freight deliveries such as respiratory masks and other important goods. Jettainer also provides the necessary units and loading equipment for short-term requirements.
However, what usually takes place on the basis of fixed flight schedules is currently often determined by short-term planning and ad-hoc changes. To date, over 500 cargo and special flights have already been operated, including for stranded EU citizens (including Switzerland) and the transportation of urgently needed freight. As a result, there is an increased build-up of excess or insufficient stocks of loading equipment at individual locations, as well as requirements at destinations where none of Jettainer's customers have their own stocks. Jettainer coordinates closely with the task forces set up for this purpose in order to ensure the availability of loading equipment required at short notice. In addition to containers, Jettainer also provides pallet stacks and nets for securing freight on passenger seats so that customer airlines can also load freight parcels at unusual destinations.
"Air freight is particularly important in emergency and crisis situations. With our international network, we can provide the required loading equipment quickly and flexibly. I would like to thank the entire team, who have been working flat out for days to meet the high demand for short-term solutions," says Thomas Sonntag, Managing Director of Jettainer GmbH.
Jettainer's global leasing service for ad hoc requirements, JettLease, is also used. Jettainer provides existing customers, but above all non-ULD customers, with units at stations that are outside their regular flight schedule. In China in particular, especially in Shanghai, demand has recently increased significantly. The unpredictable demand is mainly due to the growing number of charter flights with medical equipment or humanitarian freight.
