The major project at the headquarters of the global market leader for balancing weights and battery pole sleeves in automotive production is due to be completed by the end of 2021. The company is the exclusive supplier to the Formula 1 class and supplies all well-known car manufacturers as well as the leading retail organizations.

The new logistics center at Wegmann automotive's headquarters near Würzburg is designed to increase handling capacity with fast access times through the use of automated storage systems. Jungheinrich is supplying a complete solution for this purpose, ranging from the detailed planning of the processes in the new and existing buildings to the delivery of the technology. The centerpiece is a high-bay warehouse with automated pallet conveyor technology. Storage and retrieval machines from Jungheinrich subsidiary MIAS enable automated storage including control and visualization.

Automated guided vehicles from Jungheinrich keep the material flow moving in the logistics center. The automated trucks are navigated by laser technology connected to reflectors along the route in the warehouse aisles. The AGVs receive all information via the Jungheinrich Logistic Interface. This interface connects the Jungheinrich trucks with the SAP EWM system from Wegmann automotive.

The new automation solution also includes LRK lift racks. For small parts picking, the lift racks and their trays are connected directly to the customer's SAP EWM system via the Jungheinrich Logistic Interface. The scope of delivery includes a comprehensive Jungheinrich service and maintenance package for the entire system as well as original spare parts.
