The decision to expand the automated warehouse, which is designed to receive the finished products coming in from the production lines, is aimed at doubling the storage capacity to 12,000 pallets. A total of four 92-metre-long aisles will be set up in which a storage and retrieval machine will independently store, retrieve and transport the pallets according to Easy WMS instructions.

Another special feature of the system is that, at Sabarot's request, it is designed for operation both at sub-zero temperatures (-5 ºC) and at room temperature. At the Chaspuzac site, Sabarot produces, stores and distributes goods for customers in more than 70 countries. The most important markets are France and the United Kingdom, but countries such as Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore are also among the customers for the products.

The new warehouse aisles are managed by Mecalux's Easy WMS warehouse management system, which provides real-time control of all Sabarot's goods and ensures the complete traceability of its 7,800 items. "Thanks to digitization and robotization, we can trace all our products. This has made our warehouse management much more reliable," explains Wassner. The expansion of the automated warehouse not only covers Sabarot's current logistical needs, but is also prepared for the annual growth (almost 15%) that the company has experienced over the last fifteen years.
