Energy-neutral warehouse logistics in the Netherlands

Ceva Logistics is expanding warehouse automation at its two warehouses in Venray in the Netherlands thanks to Exotec's Skypod system.

The flexible goods-to-person picking solution significantly increases the efficiency of the warehouse. The two systems expand an existing Skypod installation at Ceva's Roosendaal plant. 57 Skypod robots will be used in the Venray facilities to drive warehouse automation for Ceva's customers, increasing storage capacity and flexibility to bridge peak periods. The robots travel at speeds of up to four meters per second and climb up to 12 meters high in the racking system.

The fully scalable and modular solution makes it easy to add robots, picking stations or bins, allowing Ceva to respond quickly to changing market conditions and customer growth by increasing or decreasing the storage volume of the warehouses as required. In addition to the efficiency and capacity benefits, sustainability is an important part of Ceva's business strategy. The low energy consumption of the Skypod system contributes to the company's sustainability goals. The Ceva warehouses in Venray are fully powered by solar energy, making the solution energy neutral. The Venray and Roosendaal sites contribute to Ceva's sustainable environmental strategy in the Benelux region, as the company produces more energy there than it consumes.

Jaco Kneteman, Head of Contract Logistics Benelux at Ceva Logistics: "The Skypod solution offers significant added value in warehouse automation. As a result of our strong commitment to Responsive Logistics, our customers expect a high level of service, efficiency and agility in our operations. The implementation of Exotec's solution enables us to continue to work with our customers on our values."
