Greiwing opens 31,000 square meter logistics center in Raunheim
After a construction period of just eight months, GREIWING logistics for you GmbH has now officially opened its new distribution center in Raunheim with a celebration. The facility on the southern bank of the River Main covers an area of 31,000 square meters and has a 13,000 square meter logistics hall and two silage areas. The new warehouse can hold up to 35,000 pallets. The logistics service provider, based in Greven, Westphalia, estimates the investment costs of the construction project near Europe's largest air freight hub at 20 million euros.
"We are delighted that the work has now been completed despite some delays," says Jürgen Greiwing, Managing Partner of GREIWING logistics for you GmbH. At its new location, the family-owned company plans to handle 250,000 tons per year with 48 employees. A large proportion of this will be shuttle transportation to and from the plants of well-known Frankfurt customers.
The range of services covered by the logistics specialist in Raunheim includes the storage and retrieval of packaged goods, the ensiling of big bags and sacks, the removal of samples, order picking, repalletizing as well as the entire dispatch process, customs clearance and sample dispatch. To ensure a smooth process at all times, the facility has eight ramps, two of which serve as special fast loading ramps for loading and unloading the shuttle vehicles.
The silo specialist's declared aim is to generate additional growth in the economically important Rhine-Main region in the medium to long term via the new site. "The strategic importance of the region remains high, especially for logistics companies. In this respect, I am convinced that the decision in favor of Raunheim will strengthen our position on the market in the long term," says Greiwing. This is due not only to the region's central geographical location and excellent connections to all modes of transport, but also to the high density of companies in almost all sectors.
As part of the official inauguration, numerous customers and construction participants took the opportunity to get an impression of GREIWING's new capacities in Raunheim during a factory tour.
