Storage- and racking systems: Terry Unnai new Chairman of Toyota Material Handling Europe

Mjölby, October 18, 2017 - Terry Unnai has joined Toyota Material Handling Europe as the new Chairman, succeeding Norio Wakabayashi. The change follows the acquisition of Vanderlande by Toyota Industries Corporation, with Wakabayashi taking over the Chairman's seat.

Terry Unnai takes up his new role with over 35 years of experience in the global material handling business. Terry Unnai joined Toyota Industries Corporation in 2001. The company's Material Handling Group division has been the market leader in the material handling sector since 2001. In June of this year, Unnai was appointed Chairman of Toyota Material Handling Europe and is now also based at the European headquarters in Mjölby, Sweden.

"I am very excited about this new role, meeting new customers and working with a new team. I see it as our duty to focus on the human aspect of goods handling and to set standards in terms of safety, ergonomics and energy efficiency," says Unnai. "I also like Sweden as a country. I feel particularly at home in nature and among the friendly people."

Following the completion of the acquisition of Vanderlande in May, a total of two senior executives from Toyota Material Handling Europe have joined the leading process automation expert. The former Chairman,

Norio Wakabayashi

is now a member of Vanderlande's management team, also in the position of Chairman. He is also a board member of Toyota Industries Europe, the holding company of both Vanderlande and Toyota Material Handling Europe.

Hans van Leeuwen

, previously Senior Vice President of Toyota's Logistics Solutions division, is now Senior Vice President of Global Advanced Logistics at Vanderlande.
