MEA Metal Applications has developed the MEAfloor grating supports to make gratings safer. MEAfloor consists of polypropylene panels just a few millimetres thick. They are manufactured in the standard size of 800 x 200 millimetres and can also be individually cut to other dimensions. Up to eleven expansion pins
keep the mats securely in the mesh at all times. Their spacing is designed to fit all standard gratings with mesh sizes 30/10 and 30/30 - regardless of the manufacturer. Depending on the intended use, the mats are available with a roughened or studded surface. In the commercial sector, the mats make work easier in two ways. Trolleys equipped with iron or plastic castors are much easier to push over gratings, and the dangerous jamming of the castors is no longer an issue. Secondly, the rolling noises are considerably quieter.
