Prague Airport puts control software from PSI Logistics into operation
Berlin, 02 February 2016 - Prague Airport is the first airport in Europe to control the entire baggage handling and sorting system with the new release 2.8 of the PSIairport/BHS baggage handling system, which replaces a legacy system. PSI Logistics GmbH was able to realize the migration order received in July during ongoing 24/7 airport operations in record time and hand over the system to the operating company in mid-December, two weeks ahead of schedule. The commissioning of the BHS, including a new, redundantly designed sorting master computer for the entire process control, took place without any significant readjustments.
The new release of the PSIairport/BHS baggage handling system is based entirely on PJF, PSI's Java-based framework, for the first time. The switch to the PSI development and programming platform supports the modular structure of the system, whose standard can be conveniently supplemented with modules for flight number display, monitoring of mobile operations on the apron and baggage loading. In addition, PJF allows new, innovative program functions, applications and technologies from other PSI business units to be integrated into the standard product and different PSI products to be networked. This offers Prague Airport long-term stability of the PSI system used and a high level of investment security.
With more than twelve million passengers, 141 flight destinations and 64 airlines, Václav Havel Airport Prague is one of the twenty largest airports in Europe. Almost all major German commercial airports and other international air traffic hubs already rely on PSI Logistics solutions for the planning and control of operational processes in their baggage and passenger handling, making PSI Logistics one of the market leaders for airport solutions.
