Environmental awareness and sustainability have been a focus at META in Arnsberg for years. This is demonstrated, for example, by the regular certification of the energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001:2018 and the associated energy savings. META is also certified by EcoVadis, which puts the company through its paces in terms of corporate responsibility. The areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement are on the audit list as part of this certification. META-Regalbau has recently joined the project initiative "Towards a climate-neutral company".

The project "Ways to become a climate-neutral company" is being run in cooperation between Klimaschutz-Unternehmen e.V. and the Department of Environmentally Sound Products and Processes (upp) at the University of Kassel. In this initiative, several different companies are developing customized roadmaps with scientific support in order to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions accordingly.

Klimaschutz-Unternehmen e.V. is a cross-sector network of companies in the German economy that is committed to achieving Germany's climate policy goals with innovative solutions. Founded on the initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUV), the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), it now includes 61 companies of all sizes.

The Department of Environmentally Sound Products and Processes (upp) at the University of Kassel works on various research and industrial projects in the fields of energy and resource efficiency, decentralized and renewable energies as well as climate protection and climate neutrality strategies. This includes the collection, evaluation and benchmarking of energy data, flexible energy supply and load management, climate protection concepts and climate neutrality strategies.

By joining this project initiative, the Arnsberg-based warehouse technology specialist is having experts accompany it on its ambitious journey. The goal of this transformation is very clear: META is becoming climate-neutral! "We will play our part in this task for society as a whole - without greenwashing," explains Dr. Klaus Vatter, Managing Director at META.

Various measures, adjusting screws and problems have already been identified in an initial intensive workshop together with the external project managers and will be implemented in future at the Arnsberg site in plants 1 and 2 on the Westring.
