Jungheinrich supplies logistics solution for pasta factory
Hamburg/Erfurt, 16.05.2018 - Jungheinrich is building a semi-automated finished goods warehouse for Erfurter Teigwaren GmbH, Germany's oldest pasta manufacturer, in Erfurt, Thuringia. A Jungheinrich shuttle solution with space for more than 26,000 pallets is being built in the 130-metre-long and 55-metre-wide new warehouse. The aim of the project commissioned by Maintrans Logistik GmbH is to expand production and logistics in Germany's largest pasta factory in Erfurt. Maintrans Logistik GmbH has been handling the logistics for Erfurter Teigwaren GmbH for eight years now. Together with the intralogistics experts from Jungheinrich, the companies are now pressing ahead with the modernization of the warehouse on the factory premises.
Production takes place here around the clock, seven days a week. Commissioning of the new warehouse is planned for October this year. A special feature of the facility is the use of Jungheinrich EKS 215a automated guided vehicles. Fully automated, the driverless vehicles operate a racking system with a total of six Jungheinrich Under Pallet Carriers. The shuttles are fully controlled via WLAN and communicate constantly with the autonomous Jungheinrich trucks. This is the first time that this solution has been implemented and offers a significant increase in efficiency in the operation of the shuttle complex. The driverless transport systems are controlled by Jungheinrich control software in combination with the Jungheinrich logistics interface. This middleware takes over the tasks of the communication center and translates the information required for data exchange between the vehicles and the warehouse management system.
This also applies to the manual Jungheinrich trucks used in Erfurt. The three ETV 320 reach trucks are equipped with the semi-automatic liftNAVIGATION lift height preselection system, which makes storage and retrieval at great heights more efficient. After completion, Jungheinrich will provide full service support for the complete system. red
