Plant transports centralized and optimized

MTU Aero Engines has increased its internal delivery reliability from 89% to 93% by optimizing its multi-stage transport chains with Syncrotess.

Many years of working with Inform's AI-based system have enabled the company to cope with the increasing complexity of logistics. MTU also uses the cloud-based Synchrosupply solution for time slot management and truck arrival control. This has reduced the average throughput time from 56 to 46 minutes. Since 1993, the Syncrotess transport control system at MTU has served as a single source of truth for internal plant transport and dynamically calculates optimized handling sequences for forklifts, electric trucks, trailer transports and other means of transport in real time.

MTU realized cost savings of around 30 % in the transport sector and an ROI of less than one year in the first few years after the initial introduction. The system handles 560,000 transport orders alone every year. The system is used both to book and plan time slots for incoming trucks and to optimize the allocation of trucks to the correct ramp. Each goods receipt is now stored with a journey in the system.
