The BVL Managing Director has decided to end his full-time work for the German Logistics Association. Schwemmer joined the BVL management board in February 2022 and has been responsible for sales and marketing, innovation and BVL seminars. He conceived the new format of the LogTech Festival, which took place in Hamburg in 2023. He also initiated and supported the continuation of the BVL study "Trends and Strategies", which will be presented at the German Logistics Congress. Together with partner GS1 Germany, Schwemmer continued the "Cloud4Log" digital delivery bill project towards live operation.

"I didn't take the decision lightly. I was able to make a big difference at BVL and I really appreciated the exchange with my colleagues. However, I realized that I wanted to focus more on content again, which unfortunately I don't have the time for here at BVL. I have a background in scientific work, which is unfortunately neglected due to the wide range of tasks at BVL. Previously, I accompanied the Top100 of logistics for over ten years, and I would like to continue working in this direction. I would like to publish a new book, which I have been putting off for too long. But I'm also open to new things and will look in different directions. I'm still keen on logistics," says Martin Schwemmer about his motivations.

Thomas Wimmer, Chairman of the Board of BVL, added: "Martin was a great asset to our team. He set new milestones with the LogTech Festival and the Trends and Strategies Study. We very much regret his departure, but can well understand his reasons. I hope that Martin will continue to be available to us in the future with his expertise and network for BVL's content-related work and wish him all the best for the future."

Martin Schwemmer will leave the BVL Management Board on October 31, 2023, with Christoph Meyer and Mike J. Holtkamp remaining members. A successor has not yet been appointed by the Executive Board.
