The container yard at Terminal Burchardkai (CTB), the largest container terminal in the Port of Hamburg, has been given two additional tracks and two new rail gantry cranes. The station now has ten tracks instead of the previous eight. In addition, the second of a total of four rail gantry cranes was put into operation on January 18 as the final expansion element. CTB Managing Director Andreas Hollmann: "We have expanded our station once again, providing our customers with more than just additional capacity. The four independently operating rail cranes enable more flexible handling and faster response times for rail transshipment." This increases the station's capacity by around 200,000 to approximately 850,000 standard containers (TEU) per year. Annual rail throughput at the terminal has grown by 50 percent since 2010.
