The new building with a total of over 1,500 square meters of office space, 8,000 square meters of handling space and 100 gates was put into operation at the beginning of September after less than a year of construction. The logistics service provider, which has been based in Bremen since 1988, is thus significantly expanding its capacities and responding to the continuing growth trend in the general cargo and direct load product areas in the Bremen / East Frisia region.

With the construction of the new freight forwarding facility at the Bremen site, the company aims to position itself sustainably for the logistics of the future: In addition to app-controlled shunting processes and smart-navigated industrial trucks, the entire facility is geared towards intelligent processes - from visitor management and an automated lighting system to digital order management in the depot and autonomous e-cleaning devices. Wrapping robots support the employees by wrapping the goods directly at the respective storage location. This saves both time and distances and thus contributes to the optimization of core freight forwarding processes. There are also plans to generate around 50 percent of the electricity required to operate the entire facility itself from the beginning of next year using a photovoltaic system on the roof of the hall - including the e-charging stations for the increasingly electric company car fleet. In this way, the logistics company is making an important contribution to reducing carbon dioxide emissions with its forwarding facility, which has been developed in line with the latest standards.

"Bremen is an important location for us with its excellent transport connections, which cover the entire spectrum of combined transport by sea, rail and truck. This is why we have invested in our future with the new logistics center, so that we can continue to grow strategically from here. Over the past decades, we have already seen steady volume growth in the region and at the same time increased demand for international transportation in Europe, but also in global maritime transport. I am therefore very pleased that we have succeeded in establishing such a forward-looking and innovative location in the immediate vicinity of the freight village (GVZ), where some of our colleagues will continue to be based," says Sven Eisfeld, Managing Director Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Germany.

"The new property meets all the requirements of a modern infrastructure thanks to the use of smart technologies paired with the expertise we have accumulated over decades. We are therefore delighted to be operating a facility in Bremen that leaves nothing to be desired by our customers and maps our processes in an intelligent and forward-looking way. We are thus setting real standards in the industry and have also set the strategic course for sustainable growth in Bremen," adds Marco Schulte, Area Manager Bremen/East Frisia, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Germany.
