Logistics service provider
BLG commitment in Turkey decided
The BLG Group sees good business opportunities in the automotive nation of Turkey: as one of the largest automotive importers in Europe, the country imported 626,000 new cars last year. At the same time, 1.4 million vehicles were produced locally. On August 28, board member and COO Matthias Magnor signed the contracts for BLG's involvement.
The Managing Director of the new company BLG Uluslararasi Tasimacilik Ltd. Sti. with headquarters in Istanbul is Cem Akgül. Matthias Magnor explains: "Cem Akgül is a proven logistics expert with extensive knowledge and contacts in the Turkish logistics market. I am delighted that we can open up promising new markets with him." BLG has already gained experience in Turkey in the past. Since August 2023, car trains have been departing from the BLG AutoTerminal Kelheim for Köseköy. Köseköy is considered one of the largest logistics centers of the Turkish state railroad and is the closest freight terminal to Istanbul.
"Turkey logistics hub thanks to strategic location"
"Turkey's strategic location, which connects continental Europe with the Middle East and Asia, makes it an ideal transport center and logistics hub. We want to use this advantage to contribute to the further international development of the BLG Group," emphasizes Cem Akgül. The BLG car trains transport around 200 vehicles in one run. They were the first to travel through the 13.6-kilometer Marmaray Tunnel. The tunnel connects the Asian part of Turkey with Europe.
