Change of leadership

Martin Schrüfer,

Björn Schniederkötter new CEO of the Hoyer Group

On February 1, 2021, Björn Schniederkötter will take over the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Hoyer Group. He replaces Ortwin Nast, who has decided to step down as CEO after more than 14 years and retire from professional life. Together with Gerd Peters, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Schniederkötter will form the Executive Board of the logistics company headquartered in Hamburg.

Björn Schniederkötter has held various management positions at Nagel Group. The trained forwarding agent began his career at the family-owned company, which specializes in food logistics, in 1996 with his apprenticeship. This was followed by various positions with management responsibility in Germany and abroad before he was appointed Chief Operating Officer on the Nagel Group Board of Directors in 2014. In this role, he was responsible for the German and foreign subsidiaries and acted as deputy to the Chief Executive Officer.

"We are not only convinced of Mr. Schniederkötter's professional expertise, but have also gained the impression in our intensive discussions that he not only understands the demands that Hoyer as a family business places on a CEO, but that he will also exemplify our values," says Thomas Hoyer, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Hoyer Group, explaining the personnel decision. "Hoyer is a highly specialized logistics company with an international reputation. It combines clear values with demanding requirements in terms of the quality and safety of its services," explains Schniederkötter. "This combination is something special."

Ortwin Nast leaves behind a "company that is excellently positioned in the market and financially strong" (quote). Despite various economic crises, sales and earnings increased by almost 50 percent under his leadership, and the company significantly increased investments in future-proof systems. "We would like to thank Mr. Nast for his achievements for Hoyer and regret his departure. He has sharpened Hoyer's profile as a provider of comprehensive logistics solutions," says Thomas Hoyer and adds: "We look forward to welcoming Mr. Schniederkötter and are optimistic about the future together."
