12,500 m² built-to-suit project
Verdion hands over hazardous materials warehouse in Rieste to Imperial
Pan-European logistics specialist Verdion has handed over the new hazardous materials warehouse in Niedersachsenpark in the municipality of Rieste near Osnabrück to Imperial Chemical Logistics GmbH. The 12,500 m² built-to-suit project was completed after a construction period of just under nine months. The investment volume amounted to 15 million euros.
The building includes a high-bay warehouse with space for 20,000 chemical pallets and a total storage capacity of 19,100 tons, as well as 750 m² of office space. Imperial Chemical Logistics, a specialist in the storage and transportation of hazardous substances, employs 70 people at the new site.
Stephan Dalbeck, Business and Portfolio Director at Verdion: "The project in Niedersachsenpark had an ambitious schedule and the property had a complex design. Despite this, we were able to complete the project just under two weeks ahead of schedule. The trusting collaboration with Imperial began with the construction of a hazardous materials warehouse in the Hansa Business Park in Münster, which was completed in 2017. We are delighted to continue this cooperation so successfully in Rieste."
Michael Pohl, Director Warehousing & Distribution at Imperial Chemical Logistics: "We have deepened our existing partnership with Verdion even further in our second joint project. As a tenant with very specific requirements, we can fully rely on Verdion's many years of experience."
The project development was financed by the Canadian pension fund Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), with whom Verdion has a partnership for the financing, development and management of logistics real estate throughout Europe. Verdion will continue to hold and manage the property in Niedersachsenpark for the institutional investor. Kögel + Nunne Bau GmbH were involved in the development as general contractor, tricer management GmbH as project manager and Büro Kühling as architect.
