Lifting tables
Lifting table for the winding shaft
Johns Manville (JM), a manufacturer of construction and specialty products, produces nonwovens at its Berlin plant using large winding machines. JM uses a compact lift table from Flexlift for the required lifting operations.

For more than 150 years, Johns Manville has been manufacturing products from glass fibers and nonwovens for a wide range of applications, such as filtration. At the Berlin plant, polyester spunbonded nonwovens are produced and converted into many different widths and roll diameters on cardboard cores using a rewinder. A compact lifting table from the Flexlift FK series stands next to a winding machine at Johns Manville. The lift table is used to remove the winding shaft from the finished roll and prepare it for the next winding process.
It all began with the flounder
Gotthard Heide laid the foundation for the establishment of Flexlift Hubgeräte GmbH in Bielefeld in 1981 with the development of extremely flat lifting tables with heights from 65 millimetres and a load capacity of up to 10 tons. The further development of these flat lifting tables led to an extensive product range. Special solutions for customer-specific requirements are also developed. At the beginning of the 1990s, the first lift tables with electromechanical spindle drive were developed, which are now used in large numbers in the automotive industry. The electromechanical belt drive developed from the original generation of lift tables has recently been successfully gaining ground.
For this purpose, the lift table platform is equipped with a support prism ("V-board") and adjustable stops. The prism automatically centers a placed sleeve and at the same time prevents rolls from unintentionally rolling off the lift table. The stops allow rolls of different widths to be placed in the exact position required on the lift table, and the stops also ensure that the roll cannot move lengthways unintentionally. Wherever goods are manufactured in the form of rolls, where different roll diameters and widths need to be adjusted, such as at Johns Manville when inserting and removing winding shafts, such a lift table is a very useful aid that also contributes to work safety.
